The Chief Minister Backward Class and Extremely Backward Class Hostel Grant Scheme has been implemented by the state government for the purpose of making students aware of higher education and to increase the higher education rate and to fulfill the hostel requirements. Under this scheme, hostel grant is being provided to the students studying in backward and backward class hostels for meeting their hostel daily requirements.

To get the benefit of this scheme, the student should be residing in hostels operated under the welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Department as well as studying in a recognized educational institution. Under this scheme , the list of students residing in hostels will be uploaded by the hostel superintendent on the departmental portal and e-Kalyan portal.

Under this scheme students studying in hostel of backward and extremely backward class will be eligible to get Rs 1000/- per month for fulfilling their basic necessity. This amount will be directly transferred to the student / girl s bank account.

Apart from this, the government also provided 15 kg of free food grains to the students studying in the hostels operated under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Welfare Department, Backward Classes and Backward Classes Welfare Department, Backward Classes and Extremely Backward Welfare Departments and Minority Welfare Departments. In view of the interest of students under this scheme, 9 kg of rice and 6 kg of wheat are being supplied out of 15 kg.
