Main objective of this scheme is to provide equal opportunities to both boys and girls for education and to provide security to the girls. For this, the Bihar government started the "Mukhyamantri Balika Cycle Yojana" for girls which can help girls to go to school on time and they can come home from school on time.

(i) Must be a resident of Bihar - This scheme was developed for the welfare of poor girl students who find difficult to go to school due to being away from their home. To get benefit under this scheme girl must be the permanent residents of Bihar.

(ii) Must be a student of a government school - All girl candidates wishing to obtain a bicycle should be studying in government schools, which are either run by the state government. Under this scheme No benefit will be provided while studying in Private schools

(iii) Should have passed 8th grade – To get this benefit minimum education qualification is 8th pass. While passing examination of 8th grade and when she will get admission in grade 9th she will be eligible to get benefit of this scheme.

Under this scheme, Rs 2500 (previously Rs 2000) will be given to each candidate. This money should be used to purchase a bicycle. To ensure that the funds have been used, the girl students will have to submit a bicycle purchase receipt to the school office.
